Merry Christmas everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kia ora.

I just finished reading Maui and the Giant fish. Maui was a very interesting person and was the hero in many Polynesian Myths. Here are 3 interesting facts that I learnt about Maui.

1. When Maui made his fishing line and went to catch his fish that would later become the North Island he canted this karakia.

Kuku, kuku ika, kuku wehiwehi,
Takina ko koe nā, te iho o ika,
Te iho o Tangaroa –
Uara ki uta rā, uara ki tai rā.

Hold tight, hold the fish, hold tight with fearsome power,
You are led along, the essence of the fish,
The essence of Tangaroa –
Desired on the land, desired on the sea.

2. Māui took on the appearance of a Kererū when he went to find his father in the underworld.

3.  Maui got his hook for is grandmother - Murirangawhenua.

Dissecting Organs

Kia Ora everyone,

Yesterday, Team Moana did an experiment we got to cut open lamb organs. This is a followup on Life ED. In life ED we were learning about organs inside our body. We had to use our five senses in our writing sight , hear , taste , feel and smell. My favourite part was observing the lamb heart. Then the next day we did our writing. Here is mine.

Limp piece of meat.
"Amazing" said everyone at the table.
Massive and bloody, as I touched the heart.
Bracing myself as the heart got cut open.

Hot as Mrs B puts the heart on the pan.
Eating the heart was my favourite part.
Anxious to ask for another piece of heart.
Rough and oval shaped.

Toothpicks got shoved in the middle.
